The lower deck of the bridge carries a roadway, which connects Oberbaum Straße to the south of the river with Warschauer Straße to the north. The upper deck of the bridge carries Berlin U-Bahn line U1, between Schlesisches Tor and Warschauer Straße stations.

Spree Park

Spree Park is an old, run down amusement part of the former GDR.

The park was opened in 1969 as Kulturpark Plänterwald, covering an area of 29.5 hectares. The park is situated in the north of the Plänterwald, next to the Spree River. During it’s heyday it was the only constant entertainment park in the GDR, and the only park of its kind in East or West Berlin.

Its increase in admission fees, lack of parking and change of strategy from visitors paying a larger entrance fee instead of paying for individual rides, post GDR, caused a drop in visitor numbers and high debt. In 2001 Spree Park GmbH announced that they were insolvent.

Since 2011, guided tours have been offered to the public at restricted times.
